On November 7, 2019, a by-election was held at DC Grounds in Kibra, which was won by the ODM candidate Imran Okoth.

However, the event took a violent turn when a video emerged of Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati inciting people to attack Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa.

According to the video, Arati was seen shaking hands with Barasa before warning him, 'Usiongee mbaya, unataka ukimbizwe saa hizi? Leo mtakimbizwa. I can decide mkimbizwe saa hizi!'

Barasa, looking surprised, replied, 'Sisi we are friends, we are colleagues.'

Moments later, Barasa was roughed up by rowdy individuals who grabbed his signature maroon cap off his head and slapped him several times.

The incident left Jubilee women leaders in disbelief, but Arati was seen holding onto Isiolo Women Rep, Rehema Jaldesa, to protect her from the attackers.

Netizens have taken to social media to express their outrage over the incident, with some calling for Arati's arrest.

As the debate rages on, it remains to be seen whether Arati will face the consequences of his actions.
