Published on November 9, 2019, a day after the Kibra by-election, KMPDU Secretary General Ouma Oluga came to the defense of Boni Khalwale, a former senator from Kakamega County, who was caught on camera throwing stones at youth in Kibra.

Oluga attributed Khalwale's actions to the lack of employment opportunities for doctors in Kenya, which he claimed was the root cause of the problem.

'It's a heart-wrenching and embarrassing sight to see our doctors struggling, and that's why the doctors' union emphasizes that the government must employ all doctors to ensure every Kenyan has access to quality healthcare,' Oluga said.

Oluga's statement came as a surprise to many, given Khalwale's reputation as a fierce supporter of Deputy President William Ruto.

It is worth noting that Khalwale is a medical doctor by profession, and his actions in Kibra sparked widespread criticism and debate.
