Kenya's air transport industry has experienced a significant boom in recent years, with the introduction of low-cost carriers offering frequent flights at affordable prices.

However, this growth has been marred by a series of incidents that have raised concerns about the safety of air transport in the country.

Just a few weeks ago, a Silverstone Air aircraft overshot the runway at Wilson Airport, followed by a similar incident involving a Safarilink Aviation plane.

These incidents have sparked a debate about the safety of low-cost carriers in Kenya, with many passengers questioning whether they are getting the level of safety they deserve.

As Gladys Burini notes in her article, 'Air transport is the safest mode of transport' is an adage that is not always backed up by actions that guarantee passenger safety.
