On May 18, 2019, Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria allegedly incited people to violence and forcibly entered a two-acre parcel of land in Pipeline area, according to former mayor Mohamed Suraw's testimony in court.

Suraw, who claims ownership of the land, stated that Gikaria took construction materials and ferried over 70 people to the land, where a boda boda shed was to be constructed.

Gikaria allegedly gave orders to the people and referred to Suraw as a Somali, further escalating the situation.

The MP is charged alongside Nakuru Town East MCA Humphrey Mwaniki with seven counts, including assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and incitement to violence.

He allegedly assaulted police officers Daniel Kitavi and Solomon Kiritu who were executing their duties during the incident.

Gikaria and Mwaniki are out on Sh500,000 bail each.
