Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has been hospitalized after falling ill earlier this week.
According to Joho, he has been at Mombasa Hospital for the past five days and is hoping for a speedy discharge.
On Friday, Joho expressed his gratitude to God, saying, "I have been watching this TV yaani naomba Mungu nasema ningetoka hapa, wacha tu… But God is good."
Although Joho did not disclose the nature of his illness, his Communications Director Richard Chacha revealed that he is suffering from malaria.
As the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader, Joho congratulated their candidate in the Kibra by-election, Bernard Imran Okoth, for winning the seat.
"What has given me more strength and makes me feel better is the results of Kibra… But I will be in Kibra soon to celebrate with my brother Imran," Joho said.
He also made a humorous comment, saying, "We knew it was going to go that way….. Those others never knew that before you get into the bedroom you have to pass through a gate, the living room, and many other doors before you get to the bedroom."
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, who had paid a courtesy call, wished Joho a speedy recovery, saying, "Get well soon and go bouncing back to work and I hope to see you in Nigeria one of these days."
