DP Ruto Takes Swipe at Jubilee Leaders Who Opposed Mariga in Kibra

Naibu Rais William Ruto has taken a swipe at Jubilee leaders who opposed McDonald Mariga in the Kibra by-election, calling them 'saliti'. The leaders had supported ODM's Imran Okoth, who won the election.

Speaking on Twitter, Ruto thanked Jubilee leaders and members for standing with Mariga, despite the party's candidate being in the opposition.

"Shukran zangu za dhati kwa viongozi na wanachama kwa kusimama kidete na Mariga mgombea wetu wa Jubilee," Ruto tweeted.

However, Ruto also said that Jubilee had gained popularity despite Kibra being referred to as the 'bedroom of Raila Odinga, a fortress that many feared to enter.

During the Kibra by-election campaign, leaders from the Uhuru Kenyatta camp had announced their support for ODM's Imran Okoth, who won the election.

Among the leaders who supported Imran Okoth were Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, and former Nairobi Governor Rachael Shebesh.

Initially, Ruto had congratulated the new Kibra MP, Imran Okoth, after he was declared the winner by the IEBC.
