On November 8, 2019, Ugandan Consul General Mr Katureeba Tayebwa announced that Uganda Airlines would officially start flights into Mombasa's Moi International Airport, with the inaugural touchdown scheduled for November 11th.

The new service is expected to be a relief to Ugandan traders who use the Mombasa port to import and export cargo, and also a tourism opportunity for both countries.

According to Mr Tayebwa, the flight will take approximately one hour and 50 minutes.

Uganda Airlines is also planning to add flights to several other routes, including Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and South Africa.

As part of its promotional efforts, the airline has introduced discounted fares on the Entebbe-Mombasa route, with flights available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Uganda Airlines' Sales Manager for Kenya, Lenny Malasi, is keen on making a mark in the Kenyan market.

With Uganda being one of the top tourist attractions from Africa, the Mombasa flights are expected to boost tourist numbers.
