On the eve of the Kibra by-election, Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga exuded confidence in his chances of winning the Nairobi seat.
However, his optimism was short-lived, as he failed to vote in the constituency due to not being a registered voter.
By 11pm on election day, November 7, with only 60 out of 183 polling stations tallied, Mariga surprisingly conceded defeat to Orange party candidate Imran Okoth.
‘I would like to congratulate you for winning. We had a healthy competition and I’m ready to support your leadership,’ Mariga said in a video message, marking a stunning turnaround in his campaign.
