Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has been hospitalized with malaria, but is in stable condition and expected to be discharged soon.

According to Richard Chacha, the County Director of Communications, Joho was admitted to the hospital three days ago after experiencing a bout of headache.

Chacha stated that Joho's doctors have recommended close monitoring, and he is due for discharge today.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is attending a Future Cities conference in Mombasa, visited Joho in the hospital today and expressed his support.

Additionally, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir also paid a visit to Joho in the hospital.

During his interaction with Obasanjo, Joho expressed his gratitude for the support and noted that he is getting stronger by the day.

He also expressed his enthusiasm for the recent ODM win in the Kibra by-election, stating that it is a clear demonstration of maturity by the Kibra electorate.

On November 8, 2019, Joho took to Twitter to congratulate Imran Okoth on his win, saying, “This is a clear demonstration of maturity by Kibra electorate, who defied bribery and intimidation. The ODM party has once again sent a clear message to our competitors.”
