On November 4, 2019, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was hospitalized with malaria, his Communications director Richard Chacha revealed.
Chacha told the Nation that Joho was taken to The Mombasa Hospital after complaining of a severe headache.
Doctors recommended that Joho remain in hospital for further checks, Chacha added.
The county boss, who is the deputy leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), was expected to be discharged on November 8, 2019.
Reports of Joho's admission surfaced after former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo visited him.
It was Joho's first public appearance since October 26, when he accompanied ODM leader Raila Odinga to the burial of Michael Ngumbao in Malindi.
