On Thursday night, two police officers attached to Obama Police Post in Kayole were shot dead near the Saika Dandora bridge.
According to reports, Police Constables Joel Chesire and Albert Abeere were ambushed while on duty at Mwengenye area by unknown gunmen.
The attackers stole two firearms, an AK47 rifle and a Jericho pistol, a police pocket phone, and other assorted items.
However, officers at the scene recovered five cartridges at the crime scene.
This incident comes just a few months after a police officer was shot dead in a shootout with fellow officers in Kawangware, Nairobi County, on September 5 this year.
Police Constable Benson Indenje, who was stationed at Riruta Police Station, was reportedly drunk when a scuffle with boda boda operators ensued at a bus stop in the wee hours of the morning.
He was rushed to Nairobi Women's Hospital at Adams Arcade but pronounced dead on arrival.
It is alleged that the officer had threatened to shoot the boda boda operators.
