Published on November 8, 2019, preliminary results from the Kibra parliamentary by-election show Imran Okoth, the Orange Democratic Movement's candidate, taking a significant lead.
With 8,515 votes in 60 out of 183 polling stations, Okoth is far ahead of his closest rivals, Jubilee's McDonald Mariga and Amani National Congress's Eliud Owalo.
Mariga has already conceded defeat, while Owalo trails behind with 1,728 votes.
The Kibra by-election was seen as a dry run for the 2022 General Election, with Deputy President William Ruto seeking to make inroads in ODM leader Raila Odinga's turf.
ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna expressed confidence in Okoth's win, saying, "We have won the Kibra seat, as per our tally. We are only waiting for the official declaration of results and handing over of certificate to our candidate,"
