Published on November 8, 2019, the Kenyan roller skating national team has defied odds to post impressive results at the African Roller Games in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
With only four skaters representing the country, the team has so far accumulated five medals, a testament to their determination and skill.
Leading the charge is Teddy Andanje, who won a silver medal in the senior men's 500m event on Monday and followed it up with a gold medal in the senior men's 200m on Tuesday.
Jeff Mungai, a 15-year-old skater, added to Kenya's medal tally with a gold in the junior men's 10,000m race, while Andanje secured another silver medal in the senior men's 1,000m on Wednesday evening.
Ishmael Imani also settled for a silver medal in the junior men's 1,000m race on the same day.
Despite their success, the team has been grappling with challenges, including a reduced squad size due to funding issues and a disjointed travel itinerary.
