Published on November 8, 2019, Gor Mahia, the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions, have abandoned their e-ticketing system, adopted just two months prior.
The decision comes as the club struggles with revenue collection, with chairman Ambrose Rachier citing a significant drop in earnings since the system's implementation.
According to Rachier, the online ticket purchasing mode has resulted in the club collecting less than Sh1 million in revenue, even in matches with high attendance.
"We have noticed a very big drop in revenue collection since we started using it. It is sad that we have never collected more than Sh1 million even in matches which are attended by our fans in numbers," Rachier said.
The club will revert to manual ticketing for the Mashemeji derby against AFC Leopards at Kasarani, with Rachier urging fans to purchase tickets early to avoid crowding at the gate.
