On November 8, 2019, the Kenyan government reversed its decision to cut the Judiciary's budget for the 2019/2020 financial year, restoring the allocation to its original amount.

Chief Justice David Maraga had publicly criticized the move, stating that it had put the Judiciary's operations in a precarious situation and calling on the government to treat the institution with respect.

According to an internal memo by Chief Registrar Anne Amadi, the Treasury has fully restored the Judiciary's recurrent and development budget for the 2019/2020 financial year.

The memo also stated that authority to incur expenditure for courts stations and tribunals is being processed and will be issued in the shortest time possible, allowing the implementation of approved activities in the work plan to proceed as planned.
