When dealing with someone romantically, it's easy to overlook red flags due to clouded emotions. However, being aware of these warning signs can help you avoid potential heartache.
1. His Rules or the Highway ¶
A controlling partner often dictates various aspects of the relationship, including where you go, what you do, and even what you eat. If you express your boundaries and counteract his 'laws,' he may become distant.
This behavior indicates that he didn't truly want you in the first place; you were merely convenient. He's only comfortable with you when you adhere to his terms, but as soon as you become an inconvenience, he's out.
2. He Never Compromises ¶
This scenario is similar to the first, where he refuses to compromise on matters that matter to you. If he never bends or changes his mind, you risk developing self-esteem issues if you stay in the relationship.
Jaxn summarizes this situation by saying that if you have to make significant sacrifices to make him happy, but he won't put in any effort for you, then you're on different pages.
3. He Hasn't Defined the Relationship ¶
Not everyone likes using labels in relationships, but for those who want clarity, it's essential to define the situation. When a man truly wants something, he'll make it crystal clear.
Ask him to define the relationship, and pay attention to his response. If he starts his answer with 'but' or downplays your question, it's a clear sign that he's not interested.
