Embu Governor Martin Wambora's recent reorganization has sparked outrage, with many claiming it's a witch hunt targeting women.
At the center of the controversy is the demotion of Jane Mugambi, the chief officer for public service, to the department of gender, children, culture and social services. This move is seen as a punishment for her falling out with a member of the county's first family, Damiano Muthee.
Muthee, who was moved to early childhood development, is believed to have played a key role in Mugambi's demotion. The reorganization also saw Mary Munene, a powerful figure in the county, moved to infrastructure and public works from the department of planning and economic affairs.
Other notable changes include the transfer of the department of land, physical planning, housing and urban development to Michael Ngoroi, and the promotion of Ruth Ndirangu to the finance and planning department.
While some officials, including Muturi Wa Ireri and Fredrick Ndaire, retained their positions, others, such as John Mukundi and Jemima Nyaga, were moved to new roles.
