On November 8, 2019, Club Tribeka Lounge, a popular clubbing spot in Nairobi's central business district, was closed for renovations, according to its management.

Contrary to widespread social media reports that the club had been permanently shut down due to mismanagement, a notice by the Urban Planning Compliance and Enforcement Department of the Nairobi City County confirmed that the premises would be under renovation.

The notice, which granted authority to carry out maintenance works on the plot, stated: 'Authority is hereby granted to carry out the above maintenance works on the referenced plot subject to you having received consent for the same from the landlord…'

However, there were reports that the club had been shut down after a fallout between the directors, following the closure of its sister clubs, Natives, Zodiac, Farenheit, and Rafikiz, which were run by the same management.

A waitress who worked at the club revealed that she had not been paid for three months despite working for the club for seven years and that there were plans to take the club to the labour court, but these plans did not work out.
