Published on November 8, 2019, a 52-year-old woman, Mercy Nkirote Micheni, appeared in court for allegedly stealing two mobile phones worth Sh22,000 at Kamukunji police station.
According to the charges, the phones were recovered from technicians who could not explain how they came into their possession and were kept as exhibits in cases of either robbery or theft and handling stolen property.
Micheni, a hotelier, is also charged with handling stolen goods, having suspected stolen property, and being in possession of a forged document.
She claimed Inspector Francis Kairu, her husband, is behind her woes and framed her for the alleged theft.
Micheni was released on a cash bail of Sh20,000 and the hearing of the case is set to start on February 28 next year.
