On November 8, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded at the Makadara court in Kenya, where a 28-year-old househelp, Ruth Khaecha, stood accused of conspiring with her father to steal Sh1,350,000 from her employer, Paul Kanyi Mwangi.
However, in a stunning twist, Ms Khaecha revealed that she had been having an affair with Mr Mwangi, who allegedly gave her Sh800,000 after a intimate session at his Muthaiga home.
According to Ms Khaecha, the affair started shortly after she was hired, and she knew Mr Mwangi's wife was not good to him, which is why he began making advances to her.
Ms Khaecha told the court that she had sex with Mr Mwangi on multiple occasions, and on one such occasion, he placed an envelope containing Sh800,000 on her chest.
When asked what she felt about breaking a marriage, Ms Khaecha replied, 'I did what anyone would do if such an opportunity arose. I have suffered a lot.'
The court will make its ruling on November 22, 2019.
