On November 7, 2019, the Kibra Constituency held a by-election following the death of Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer in July 2019.
A total of 24 candidates contested for the parliamentary seat, with Imran Okoth emerging as the winner, garnering 24,636 votes.
Imran Okoth, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party candidate, has emerged winner in the hotly-contested Kibra by-election, garnering 24,636 votes.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Jubilee Party’s McDonald Mariga came in second with 11,230 votes, followed by Eliud Owalo of ANC with 5,275 votes, and Khamisi Butichi of Ford Kenya with 260 votes.
The total number of votes cast was 41,984, with 259 rejected votes and a turnout of 35.38%.
Imran Okoth has promised to work with every interested party, including Jubilee Party, to move forward for the good of the people.
"I'm humbled to have received a congratulatory call from Mariga. That’s the spirit of politics. I promise to move forward with every interested party for the good of our people. God bless Kibra," tweeted Imran.
