Naivasha's Flower Business Park, a hub for flower farms and seedling producers, is set to expand and double its production by 2020.

According to the park's General Manager, James Waweru, the expansion comes in response to the President's call to invest in the country and create jobs.

Waweru noted that the park, which started in 1998 from a bare land, hosts some of the leading flower farms and seedling producers, including Plantec Limited, Africa's leading producer of vegetable and fruits seedlings.

Plantec Limited, an Israel-owned company, produces one million seedlings of vegetables and fruits every day, addressing the issue of food security, job creation, and taxes.

However, the company faces challenges such as tough regulations and importation rules, which it is keen to work with the State to resolve.

Waweru emphasized that the expansion will not only increase revenue for the government but also create more job opportunities for the local community.

He added that the park is proud to bring foreign exchange to the country and has been involved in building the Naivasha woman hospital, employing tens of workers.
