On 23rd July this year, 28 government officials, including former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, were charged with multiple counts of abuse of office, conspiracy to commit an economic crime, and more, in connection with the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
The charges, which include approving payment contrary to the law with possible loss of over 20 billion shillings, were consolidated and amended after the Director of Public Prosecution took over the case.
Rotich and Thugge, who initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, were forced to take plea again after the charges were consolidated. They have since denied the charges and are currently out on bail.
The case will be mentioned on 27th November.
