On October 31st and November 1st, 2019, Betway and St John Ambulance came together to host a medical training camp for football teams at the Dandora Stadium.

The two-day camp kicked off with a theoretical session on the first day, followed by practical applications on the second.

Despite the recent refurbishment of community stadia by the local council, many teams still lack the necessary equipment and training to provide adequate medical care.

Financial constraints and external factors have left some teams without basic healthcare knowledge, and they often lack access to suitable medical training or facilities.

Responding to these concerns, Betway set up the medical training camp to better equip teams for medical emergencies.

One such team that has benefited from this initiative is Hakati Sportiff, a community-based club in Makadara, Nairobi.

Tragedy struck in October 2017 when one of their players, Vincent Ochieng Ogono, lost his life due to a lack of proper on-field medical attention.

Training Equipment and Support

As part of their commitment to football, Betway also donated training equipment, including balls and bibs, to Hakati Sportiff FC and 16 other teams that use Dandora stadium as their home ground.

"We have identified a gap in our sports scene that has affected teams in Kenya, and we decided to step in and help where we can," said Betway Country Manager, Leon Kiptum.

"We are grateful that St John Ambulance joined forces with us, and we hope to extend this initiative to more teams across the country," he added.
