On November 7, 2019, the Treasury made a U-turn on its decision to cut the Judiciary's budget for the 2019/2020 financial year.

The move came just days after Chief Justice David Maraga publicly expressed his discontent with the decision, warning that it would severely impact the Judiciary's operations.

According to an internal memo by the Judiciary's Chief Registrar Anne Amadi, the Treasury has fully restored the Judiciary's budget, including the recurrent and development allocations.

The memo, which was issued on November 7, 2019, stated that the budget for the half year had been uploaded in the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMIS) as approved by the National Assembly.

Authority to incur expenditure (AIEs) for the Courts stations and tribunals are being processed and will be issued in the shortest time possible.

Implementations of all approved activities in the FY 2019/2020 work plans should proceed as planned.
