The Kibra by-election, which has attracted 24 aspirants, kicked off at 6am on Thursday morning. Polling stations are expected to be open until 5pm.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), there are 183 polling stations, and the KIEMS kits used for biometrical identification of voters are working optimally.
IEBC has urged voters, candidates, and agents to maintain order at the polling stations and avoid wearing or carrying campaign materials.
Among those who have already voted include ODM leader Raila Odinga, Monica Okoth, widow of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, and ODM candidate Imran Okoth.
There was a heavy police presence after a section of voters alleged that there were attempts to bribe residents. One person was taken into police custody after officers saved him from an irate mob.
