November 7, 2019, marked a turning point in the Kibra by-election campaign as Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga found himself isolated, with reports indicating that his fierce rival, Imran Okoth of ODM, was gaining momentum on the ground.

Mariga's campaign, once bolstered by a host of Deputy President William Ruto's allied MPs, has now been reduced to a lone effort, with the candidate relying on hired private security detail.

The withdrawal of Ruto's MPs and other prominent politicians from Mariga's campaign is attributed to an earlier incident where some leaders, including Osca Sudi and Bonny Kwahwale, were chased from polling stations in Kibra.

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga, on the other hand, appears to be capitalizing on the situation, with positive updates trickling from the ODM network center in Kibra.
