Published on November 7, 2019, a Weekly Citizen report revealed that Deputy President William Ruto's camp was in a state of panic as they monitored voting patterns in the Kibra by-election.

According to the report, MPs involved in coordinating efforts in favor of Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga were seen driving in and out of a city hotel, but appeared to be in low spirits.

One of the MPs, Bonny Khalwale, was overheard expressing concerns about the voting pattern, stating that things were not as rosy on the ground as they had expected.

Earlier in the day, Khalwale and MP Osca Sudi faced the wrath of voters who pelted them with stones upon their arrival at polling stations.

On the other hand, ODM MPs exuded confidence in the race and held frequent media briefs, in stark contrast to their rivals who were nearly invisible.
