On November 7, 2019, the Atheists in Kenya Society made a bold statement about the existence of God, citing the terminal illness of Bishop Allan Kiuna, the lead preacher of JCC in Nairobi.
Bishop Kiuna's condition has sparked a heated debate, with Atheist in Kenya President Harrison Mumia questioning God's ability to heal.
“The fact that Bishop Kiuna is suffering from cancer, which we know not to have a cure, is evidence that prayers don’t work,” Mumia stated.
Mumia also accused Bishop Kiuna of making millions through the prosperity gospel by lying to vulnerable Kenyans that through the power of Jesus Christ and prayer, they can get solutions to their problems.
He cautioned Kenyans against parting with their hard-earned money on account of ‘planting a seed’ and attacked many preachers in Kenya who employ the same tactics to make quick money.
