Guardiola Praises Kyle Walker's Courage in Goalkeeping Debut ¶
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised defender Kyle Walker for his bravery in stepping in as goalkeeper during a Champions League match against Atalanta on November 6, 2019.
Walker was drafted in to replace Ederson, who had been withdrawn from the game with a suspected injury, and Claudio Bravo, who was sent off for a foul on Josip Ilicic.
Guardiola revealed in a post-match conference that Walker was suggested by the team's goalkeeping coach, Xavi Mancisidor, due to his 'courage and quickness.'
Walker's performance was praised by Guardiola, who said: 'We are lucky we only conceded one shot on target when he was in goal but congratulations for the courage and desire to help the team in this position.'
Walker's goalkeeping debut was a result of the team's drills in training, where he often joins in to improve his skills.
