Manchester City's bid to defend their Premier League title has been dealt another injury blow, with goalkeeper Ederson facing a fitness test ahead of their crucial clash against Liverpool.
Ederson was substituted at half-time in Manchester City's dramatic 1-1 Champions League draw against Atalanta in Milan on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
Manager Pep Guardiola revealed that Ederson was struggling with a muscular problem, which led to his substitution. 'It's a muscular problem,' Guardiola said. 'It was a risk so we took him off as he was feeling it late in the first half. We don't know (whether Ederson will be fit to face Liverpool).'
Ederson's injury adds to Manchester City's growing list of absentees, which already includes defenders Aymeric Laporte and Oleksandr Zinchenko, as well as midfielder David Silva, who is struggling with a thigh problem.
With Liverpool leading the Premier League table by six points, a win at Anfield on Sunday would be a significant boost for Manchester City in their title bid.
