ODM's Junet Mohamed Accuses Weston Hotel of Bribing Voters in Kibra By-Election ¶
On November 7, 2019, ODM's Director of Elections Junet Mohamed made a shocking claim about the ongoing Kibra by-election. He alleged that Weston Hotel, associated with Deputy President William Ruto, had bribed several individuals with Ksh 50,000 each.
Junet Mohamed took to Twitter to share the list of individuals he claimed had received the bribes, warning Kibra voters to stay vigilant and not disturb the peace as they vote.
“The following have been given Ksh 50,000 each at Weston Hotel. We already know you and we already planned reciprocal contingency measure. I urge Kibra voters to stay vigilant. Don’t disturb the peace of Kibra people as they vote. #ProtectingTheVote”
Junet Mohamed's statement came as the by-election in Kibra continued to unfold, with reports of voter bribery and other irregularities emerging. The ODM party chairman, John Mbadi, was also present in Kibra, where he expressed concerns about the voting process and the lack of voter registration.
