On November 7, 2019, the Ivy Wangechi murder case failed to proceed as scheduled due to a request by the prime suspect, Naftali Kinuthia, to pursue a plea bargain with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The accused, represented by lawyer Mbiyu Kamau, sought an adjournment to allow time for the plea bargain application.

According to Mr. Kamau, his client wanted to enter a plea bargain with the DPP in exchange for a lesser charge.

However, the prosecution opposed the application for an adjournment, stating that they were introducing additional evidence.

Justice Githinji directed that the trial be adjourned to allow the defence time to file the plea bargain and go through the additional evidence supplied by the prosecution.

The case will resume on March 26, 2020.
