Published on November 7, 2019, a disturbing incident unfolded in Kamweli village, Makutano, where a 51-year-old woman, Angela Wamaitha, was brutally attacked by her husband, Henry Kamande.
Kamande, who had served a four-year prison sentence at Mwea Mission Prison for a previous violent offense, returned home and demanded money from the sale of tomatoes harvested from their family farm.
When the couple disagreed, Kamande allegedly used a panga to slash his wife, leaving her with serious injuries.
Fortunately, their 26-year-old son, Paul Waruri, intervened and rushed his mother to the hospital, where doctors reported that she was in stable condition.
Waruri also revealed that his father had threatened him, stating that he would kill him if he ever set foot on their farm again.
According to a friend of the victim, Ann Njeri, this was not the first time Kamande had attacked his wife, highlighting a concerning pattern of behavior.
