Published on November 7, 2019, a one-week-old baby boy was rescued from a pit latrine in Karachorongot estate, Mogotio, after curious residents heard his cries.
Area Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer Luka Tumbo confirmed the incident, stating that the baby was found wrapped near the hole in the latrine.
Although the baby's parents have not been identified, investigations have been launched to determine their identity and the reason behind the act.
Notably, this incident occurred a month after police officers at Mogotio Police Station rescued a three-day-old baby who had been dumped in a latrine at the Livestock Improvement Centre.
“Cases of newborns being dumped are on the increase in this area, and a solution to this matter is needed,” said Officer Tumbo.
