On November 6, 2019, a significant quantity of cocaine worth approximately KSh 598 million was destroyed at the headquarters of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi, Kenya.
The operation was overseen by Chief Justice Luka Kimaru and involved several high-ranking officials, including Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji, and DCI Director George Kinoti.
The cocaine had been seized in July 2019 at the Port of Kilindini and was being transported to Spain via the Port of Mombasa.
According to reports, the operation was carried out after the DCI received a court order to destroy the seized cocaine.
