This archive report was first published on 6 November 2019.

On October 24, 2019, the decomposing body of 13-year-old son of University of Nairobi lecturer Hannah Inyama was found wrapped in a blanket in their South B house in Nairobi.

Initially, Inyama told police that her son had fallen and died in the house, and she did not take him to the hospital because she does not believe in hospitals.

However, an investigating officer has now revealed that Inyama is not of sound mind and is under medication, citing a psychiatric report.

The officer stated that Inyama will be required to appear in hospital on November 29 to check her progress and will be on daily medication.

As a result, Makadara Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga has ordered Inyama to be released to her parents, who were present in the court room, and to report to the police every Friday.
