On September 20, 2019, Miriam Wanjiru Kabugo, 25, left Kenya for Saudi Arabia, where she was recruited by Anyiro Agency based in Nairobi. The agency, located in Kitamu House along Tubman Road, had taken her to the Arabian country without her parents' consent.
Her father, David Kabugo, has been frustrated by the agency's management since they informed him that Wanjiru was missing on October 19, 2019. The agency's director, Rosemary Njuguna, and a man identified as Kimani, have declined to respond to texts and calls from The Standard over the matter.
According to Kabugo, his daughter was lured to the offer by Rosemary, who accommodated her before she left for abroad. Wanjiru had posted a photo of herself aboard the flight on social media.
After reaching Saudi Arabia, Wanjiru called her mother, but then became unreachable. Kimani later called, saying she was planning to get a phone to keep in touch with the family. However, when the situation became serious, Rosemary and Kimani blocked Kabugo's phone number and have not responded to him since.
As of now, the family is in distress, and the agency's management has gone mute.
