Double Olympic champion Nicola Adams has made the difficult decision to retire from boxing at the age of 37, citing concerns about her eyesight.
Adams, who won gold at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, made the announcement in an open letter to the Yorkshire Evening Post on Wednesday.
She expressed pride in her achievements, including winning the vacant WBO flyweight title in July, but acknowledged that boxing had taken a toll on her health.
According to Adams, she has been advised that any further impact to her eye could lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss.
Adams ends her professional career with an unbeaten record of five wins and one draw, a testament to her dedication and skill in the sport.
She is immensely proud to have represented her country and is grateful for the opportunities she has had in the sport.
