Published on November 6, 2019, Bamzigi, real name Harrison Munio, has made a triumphant return to the music scene with his latest single 'Bam Bam Killa', a dancehall pop fusion featuring Nigerian afrobeat sensation Amota DKing.
After a long hiatus from the music industry, Bamzigi's comeback is a testament to his resilience and determination. The singer's journey to recovery began when he sought help for his drug addiction, which he had struggled with since his teenage years.
As Bamzigi narrated in a 2017 interview, his history with drugs started at a young age, with marijuana being the initial gateway. He later experimented with cocaine, ecstasy, and heroin, which led to a downward spiral of addiction.
"I remember I was fighting with my girlfriend at one time and I needed that kind of depressant feeling, and that's how it all started," Bamzigi recalled. "Everything was going well until drugs start taking over your life slowly by slowly. The worst thing happened. I started mixing drugs together. I used to use heroin and cocaine at the same time."
Despite being in denial, Bamzigi eventually sought help from his family, who were shocked by his admission. With their support, he was able to overcome his addiction and rebuild his life.
Before his music career took off, Bamzigi began freestyling in clubs and making mixtapes with DJs from his neighborhood. His hard work eventually paid off with the release of his hit song 'The Bounce', which catapulted him to fame.
Today, Bamzigi is signed under Nigeria's Dima Empire and is back to doing what he loves – creating music. His latest single 'Bam Bam Killa' is a testament to his growth and perseverance.
