Published on November 6, 2019, a case of alleged defilement has been unfolding in a Maua Magistrate's court.
A 19-year-old woman, who was a member of a local church, has accused Pastor Charles Mwithalii Kobia of defiling her on multiple occasions between January 16, 2016, and December 19, 2017.
The alleged victim claimed that the pastor had promised to help her with school fees in exchange for her silence, and that he had even fitted her with a contraceptive to prevent pregnancy.
According to the woman, the pastor would often send her nude pictures and mobile phone airtime, and at one point, he secured a job for her at the Coast.
However, the prosecution faced a setback when they failed to produce a printout of the alleged conversation between the pastor and the woman, and were given two weeks to secure the information from Safaricom.
The case will continue on January 21, 2020.
