Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has made a bold promise to destroy all cartels involved in compromising the integrity of national exams. Speaking in Kisii, Magoha warned that under his watch, all exam cheating syndicates will have no place in the country.
Magoha specifically cited Kisii, Migori, and Homabay counties as exam cheating hotspots, warning that the government will deal ruthlessly with those caught in the act. He particularly mentioned Rongo and Kendu Bay as targeted areas.
Magoha also decried the impersonation of exams by university students at a Kisii county school, cautioning parents against wasting huge sums of money in purchasing exams for their children. He emphasized that students should be left to exploit their talents.
Meanwhile, in Narok County, a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate linked to crime will sit for his examinations in prison pending the hearing of his case. Narok County Director of Education Phillip Wambuahas warned students against engaging in any form of criminal activity, noting that this is a defining moment of their lives.
The Narok County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti advised the candidates to be disciplined and keep away from any activity that might jeopardize their future and burden their parents.
Magoha's promise to eradicate exam cartels comes as the country prepares for the KCSE exams.
