On November 6, 2019, a disturbing incident occurred at Kamweli village in Makutano, Mwea, where a 51-year-old woman was attacked by her husband with a panga.
Henry Kamande, a former inmate who had served four years at Mwea Mission Prison for attacking another woman with an arrow, returned home and demanded money from his wife, Angela Wamaitha, for the proceeds from their family farm's tomato sale.
When his demands were not met, Kamande allegedly attacked his wife, leaving her with serious injuries. Angela was rescued by her son and rushed to Mwea Mission Hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.
According to Paul Waruri, the couple's son, Kamande also threatened him, stating that he would kill them if they ever set foot on their farm again.
Ann Njeri, a friend of the victim, revealed that this was not the first time Kamande had attacked his wife, with the incident being the second of its kind.
