On October 8, 2019, Catholic priest Michael Kyengo disappeared from Thatha Parish in Machakos, only to be found dead in a mysterious murder that shocked Kenyans.
According to the police, Kyengo's body was discovered on October 15, 2019, almost a week after he was kidnapped from his parish by gunmen.
Senior Resident Magistrate Paul Mayova has directed that the case be transferred to Embu High Court, citing that the offence was committed within the jurisdiction.
Magistrate Mayova ordered that the three suspects, Michael Mutunga, Mwangangi Kavivya, and Solomon Mutava, be presented at the Embu High Court on November 11, 2019, to take their plea.
The suspects will face trial for the heinous killing of the priest, who was abducted, murdered, and then buried in a shallow grave on a riverbed in Embu County.
