November 6, 2019, marked a significant turning point in the life of Tanzanian artiste Malkiz Said, popularly known as Binti Malkiz. In a remarkable transformation, she has converted to Christianity, leaving behind her previous lifestyle as a lesbian.
Speaking to Global Publishers, Malkiz shared her incredible journey, attributing her conversion to a profound encounter with the Holy Spirit during her first visit to church.
"I felt an intense energy and power within me when I visited the church for the first time," she narrated. "I knew this was real, and something had entered my heart, and I felt a weight lifting off my body."
Having always been open about her sexual orientation, Malkiz revealed that after her encounter with the Holy Spirit, she felt at peace with herself, despite losing friends in the process.
"I feel so good, I feel very powerful," she explained. "I see a new direction in my life, and many things are changing. Even my friends who don't understand this new path are being pushed away by God, and I know this is the right place for me. I have found peace."
Describing her previous struggles with stress, Malkiz shared that she used to turn to alcohol and drugs for comfort. However, she has now found a new outlet for her emotions in her faith.
"I used to run to alcohol and drugs whenever I was stressed out," she said. "But since I started attending church, I've found a new way to pour out my heart and find peace."
When asked about her family's reaction to her conversion, Malkiz acknowledged that they might not agree with her new faith, but they are pleased that she has changed and is now worshiping God.
"I know my family may not understand this, but they're glad that I've changed and am now worshiping God," she said. "They should just understand that their child has left a life of sin and has chosen to follow God."
