Published on November 6, 2019, Raila Odinga's sexist quip during the Kibra campaign has sparked a firestorm of criticism from the Ukambani region.

Speaking at the first anniversary memorial service for Kalonzo Musyoka's father, Mzee Peter Musyoka Mairu, in Tseikuru, community leaders led by Wiper Chief Kalonzo Musyoka called for Raila to apologize over his comments.

Raila's statement, 'Kambas are faithful, just like women. When they want to give it to you, they surely will,' was deemed an insult to the Kamba community by the leaders.

The community leaders accused Raila of demeaning Kamba women by suggesting they are promiscuous, and questioned the representation of Ukambani by governors Charity Ngilu of Kitui, Alfred Mutua of Machakos, and Kivutha Kibwana of Makueni, who joined Raila in the Kibra campaign.

Ukambani leaders are now demanding an apology from Raila over his sexist comments, which they believe are an insult to the Kamba community.
