Former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech has expressed doubts about Gor Mahia's chances of winning the Kenya Premier League title this season.
Speaking to the press, Oliech pointed out that the team's poor away record and lack of experienced players make it difficult for them to succeed.
“Gor Mahia has started the league in fine form but they have a bad away record hence cannot win KPL this season. The best they can finish is position 3 or 4. They sold many experienced players and the current want needs time to gel,” Oliech said.
Notably, key players such as Philemon Otieno and Shafiq Batambuze are currently out injured, while veteran goalkeeper Boniface Omondi has been relegated to the bench after the signing of Tanzanian David Mapigano.
Published on November 6, 2019, Oliech also revealed that he has decided to put on hold his plans to sue Gor Mahia, citing the club's financial struggles and his desire to wait for a new sponsor before demanding his unpaid dues.
“Court cases on football takes even four years to end but I’m not done with Gor Mahia yet. I sympathize with their financial situation but I will be on them when they have a new sponsor so that I can get my money,” he said.
Furthermore, Oliech has announced that he will be available in the January transfer window, with Bandari or Wazito FC being his potential destinations.
