On November 6, 2019, the AmCham Business Summit 2019 brought together over 200 companies from the US, Kenya, and the region at the UN Complex in Gigiri.

The companies, comprising American, Kenyan, and regional businesses, were looking for opportunities and business partnerships.

According to AmCham CEO Maxwell Okello, the Summit aimed to provide a platform for businesses to meet, explore information, ideas, and opportunities, driven by the spirit of partnership for mutual benefit.

AmCham Board President Phillipine Mtikitiki emphasized the interest of the US private sector in partnering with local businesses in Kenya and the East Africa region, describing a mutually beneficial partnership that seeks to support and develop the local private sector.

She highlighted the value of local companies as excellent partners, adding value to investors by their knowledge of local markets and access to local opportunities.

Kenya and the US are currently in discussions to find a way forward in trade relationships beyond AGOA's expiration date in 2025.

The Summit, now in its second year, is held in partnership with the Kenya and US governments, as well as the US Chamber of Commerce, and serves as an engagement platform for the US and the greater East Africa region.
