Published on November 6, 2019, Raila Odinga's remarks about the Kamba community have sparked controversy.
During a meeting with Kamba leaders ahead of the Kibra by-election, Raila thanked the community for their generosity, but his words had strong sexual connotations.
“Unajua Wakamba ni waaminifu na wao ni kama akina mama wakisema watakupatia watakupatia,” Raila said, sparking outrage among some Kamba leaders.
However, a group of Machakos County Assembly members has come to Raila's defense, calling the accusations against him 'desperate and opportunistic' political propaganda.
Led by Kangundo West Ward MCA Titus Kaloki, the ward reps urged Kamba voters in Kibra to ignore the claims and vote for the ODM candidate.
“Those attacking Raila over his remarks are simply seeking cheap political mileage after sensing defeat in Kibra. We are asking Kamba voters in Kibra to ignore them and vote for the ODM candidate,” Kaloki said.
