On November 5, 2019, Mumias Sugar Company employees were sent home permanently by the miller, marking a significant shift in the company's operations.

The move comes after the company was put under receivership by the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), a decision that has left many employees uncertain about their future.

According to a notice seen by Pulselive.co.ke, the Receiver has engaged a new set of employees on a contractual basis, with priority given to past employees while recruiting staff on a temporary basis.

"Any payment to the affected employees shall be dealt with in accordance with the provision of the law," the notice read.

It remains to be seen how this development will impact the company's operations and the employees who have been sent home.
